Zain KSA Places 1st 5G Call

Zain KSA made the 1st call in the region on its 5G network. The company also experimented with unprecedented speeds on its 5G network, successfully exceeded 1000 Mbps. The various tests were also conducted to determine the average speed that a 5G network offers and ensure full technical readiness.

“ We continue working to attain faster speed rates and higher quality across our networks, Zain KSA stated in a press release, adding "We are fully aware that our customers only settle for top-notch service quality, and that is exactly what we are working so diligently to provide through our dedicated 5G team. "

By leveraging its human and technical capital, Zain KSA plans to introduce more of this technology into the local market. This will allow the company to meet the wants of its customers on the one hand, and to contribute to contribute real added value to the ICT sector, on the other.

Commenting on this occasion, Eng. Sultan bin Abdulaziz AlDeghaither, CEO of Zain KSA stated: "This is the first 5G call experience in the region, and one of the first in the world without using voice-call apps. The company has managed to tap into unprecedented speeds via 5G technology, demonstrating once again the active role of Zain KSA in the ICT sector, and Zain’s relentless pursuit to bring state of the art technology without compromising on quality.”

Eng. AlDeghaither expressed his sincerest thanks and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, for extending unlimited support toward the private sector in general, and the ICT in particular, which- in turn- has contributed to elevating the quality of services.

"Our aspirations at Zain KSA go way beyond this, as we will continue to work towards faster speed rates and higher quality across our networks in the future," Eng. AlDeghaither stated, adding that “the Saudi ICT sector is witnessing a major renaissance in terms of service quality and network penetration.”

Eng. AlDeghaither also expressed his appreciation of all the efforts exerted by MCIT to help place Saudi Arabia among the 1st countries the Middle East and North Africa to launch 5G network. Zain KSA CEO also thanked the CITC for the introducing 5G frequencies; a move that reflects the remarkable progress achieved by the sector to support the digital transformation across the Kingdom.

Last January, Zain KSA was able to obtain new spectrum frequencies in the 2600 MHz and 3500 MHz bands in the CITC auction. These new spectrum frequencies have enabled the company to prepare and live-test 5G technology; a technology that is anticipated to bring about a quantum leap for ICT sector services in the Kingdom and allow the company to meet the needs and expectations of the customers, and align with Vision 2030 goals and objectives.
