Zain KSA has announced successful acquisition of 2600 MHz spectrum, following the auction held by the Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC), in which competing telecommunications companies vied obtain license to provide public mobile telecommunications services in the Kingdom.

Zain KSA’s success in obtaining new spectrum frequencies within the available ranges constitutes an important milestone in terms of market competitive capabilities. By expanding its range of available frequencies, Zain KSA is expected to offer even more state-of-the-art mobile telecommunications services using the 4G and 5G technologies.

Commenting on this accomplishment, Eng. Sultan Abdulaziz AlDeghaither, CEO of Zain KSA, reiterated that the company is relentlessly working introduce next generation telecommunications technologies and services to meet the expectation of the company’s customers. He went on to add that “We have a robust market that is growing significantly. For this reason, the telecommunications companies are collaborating with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and the Communications and Information Technology Commission to foster a qualitative development in terms of the quality of the services provided.”

In his statement, AlDeghaither also pointed out that the efficiency and quality of the services that Zain KSA provides to its customers are what distinguished Zain KSA from its competitors, adding that the company –more than ever- is resolved to expand launch of 4G+ coverage, and execute a robust future 5G launch plan.

It is worth mentioning that expanding the frequency spectrum allocated for the mobile telecommunications services helps boost the internet speed and improve the quality of mobile telecommunications services in the Kingdom; Thus, helping realize the ICT Vision 2030 objectives.

 CITC has announced that the auction results led to increasing frequency spectrum assigned for mobile telecommunications services in the Kingdom from (420) MHz to (710) MHz; an increase of about 70%.

Following this acquisition, Zain KSA has expanded its current spectrum frequencies roster, which includes 800MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz, 2100MHz, and 2600MHz.

 Auctioning spectrum frequencies in such transparent manner and as per global best practices is but one reason why The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is considered a pioneer in the region.
