Zain KSA, the leading provider of digital services, and the Saudi Irrigation Organization (SIO) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at LEAP 2026 to explore and develop advanced digital solutions for a unified, smart dam management platform. The collaboration aims to enhance monitoring, operational efficiency, and readiness for emergencies and severe weather conditions, including heavy rainfall. It will support water security and enhance the safety of dam infrastructure.
The proposed platform will assess the potential application of advanced digital technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), digital twins, the Internet of Things (IoT), video analytics, and real-time data.
These technologies will enable the development of an integrated digital ecosystem for dam management, with centralized monitoring and analytics capabilities. By providing real-time data and insights, the system will strengthen risk anticipation, enable earlier detection of potential issues, and support more effective response, while enhancing the management of water assets and infrastructure. The predictive capabilities will also support planning and decision-making and improve operational efficiency.
The MoU reflects SIO’s efforts to accelerate the digital transformation of water infrastructure management across Saudi Arabia’s dams.
Zain KSA continues to leverage its expertise in telecommunications and advanced digital solutions to enable digital transformation across vital sectors. The MoU marks a step toward a more integrated approach to smart dam management, enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of water infrastructure while strengthening resilience and operational readiness. It also contributes to advancing the Kingdom’s digital transformation and sustainability objectives under Saudi Vision 2030
